What is Ghost?
Symantec/Norton Ghost is a peice of “imaging” software. “Imaging” being a generic term for putting things into picture, you can imagine Ghost as a method of “taking a picture” of your computer hard disk.
Basically, you start Ghost, and then you can use it to “take a picture” of your current hard disk state, Windows (or the OS of your choice) and all. Then, if the worst happens and your setup gets damaged in some way, you can simply use Ghost to restore your “picture” back onto your disk.
Once you’ve restored the disk to this “snapshot”, you should be able to restart the computer, and find yourself back at the point you were when the image was made. It’s a lot quicker than reinstalling, and you don’t lose every program or setting you ever altered!
