I came to this PC when a deputy head left my workplace. He turned it in, as he was bound to. Nobody wanted it as we’d just upgraded to XP, and it was a 98 machine.

It had a duff battery, and only 64Mb RAM, but a swift visit to WWW.DELL.COM got me a new battery unit and 128mb of additional RAM. Since then, I’ve serviced it and I love it in a “love to sigh when using it” way. It’s a nice design, reasonably powerful, well behaved (keyboard apart) and stable.

The TFT has a few dead pixels, and the keyboard is pretty much useless..a long standing fault. Keys die at random, and the keyboard has to be removed from the laptop and tapped on a table to restore its function. At £200 for a keyboard unit, I can’t be bothered to replace it!

The front of the CD Drive has half fallen off, and the hard disk has a continual whine..it’s a vocal old IBM unit. Sat next to jems Vaio, it looks and sounds a bit of a shed to be fair. I don’t much care though.

I can work in the garden with it, I have wireless internet and e-mail, and it even runs Ubuntu Linux. Whats to complain about?

Update: I got a new Keyboard for £25 from WWW.PCHUB.COM..:) It’s spot on now.
